MY MUSIC MAGAZINE! This is my final piece for the end of my product, however I had to make some alterations after I completed my evaluation, and so my images in the evaluation will be the magazine I did proir to this.

The process of my contents page

Below I have uploaded the different stages I went through in order to master my final product, the images show the different layouts I had difficulty choosing, however, the last image is my final and finished contents page which shows simalirities to Q magazine's contents page.

This was my front cover at its final product, however, I had to make changes with the straplines as it was not the same artists as on the contents page which I had started already, so I went back to my front cover and edited those changes and the complete front cover is the second image.

PLANNING THE PHOTO SHOOT FURTHER...
Looking at my photoshoot and all the images taken I've decided I need further photos as I'm using the same artist for the front cover, contents page and feature page, I wanted to do this to provide consistency through-out my magazine and so the audience know who my magazine will be focusing on in this issue. Therefore, I then decided I would include several pictures on my contents page of other rappers/ people, to broaden my magazine. The images are below:

These images have been taken at live events, and so I thought it would be ideal to include 2/3 of them on my contents page. The main 2 I would most likely include is the 'vote for swb' image as a strapline itself and the live event of them rapper image as it captures the moment, and putting it on my contents page would allow me to put it there as navigation for a page number. By that I mean I would put it as a strapline, and put the page number and "read about SWB'S first live Gig and how they tackled there nerves"

These images are all a mixture of fashion and rappers, the reasons for this is so the infomation on my contents page will be quite broad and will not be just focused on one topic.

Plans For My Magazine!

• My magazine will be aimed at both genders but mainlu males within the age range of 15-25 who have an interest in hip hop, rap and grime magazine. This magazine will remarkably appeal to rap/hip hop fans and those engrossed in news of the latest gossip of upcoming stars
• Based on the research I conducted I would only expect the interests of this particular audience to include watching music channels, attending concerts, using social networking sites such as; twitter, facebook and vine. Moreover, attending youth organisations with young people like themselves.
• We would essentially relate this genre of music to the younger generation i.e teenagers. The aim of my magazine is to appeal to the target audience and I hope to raise peoples' interests in this genre of music whilst using mild forms that contrast with the stereotypical ideologies of the genre.
• I hope for my magazine to be imposed for the purpose of entertaining people, informing people and educating people.
• The genre of my magazine will be based around rap, hip hop and UK grime. The names I'm considering for my magazine are; Grime Tyme, The Catch and It's a wrap! The reasoning for these names is because they symbolically represent something within my magazine and possibly who my magazine is aimed at. The reason for 'Grime Tyme' is because it represents one element of UK urban music that is targeted at teenagers, mainly boys which is on of my aims, and the reason 'time' is spelt 'tyme' is just simply because it connotes the flavour and spice that I'm producing in my magazine. Furthermore, 'the catch' is very simple but sharp, and it initially portrays that you get the latest gossip and news on your favourite artists, and so I believe that this miniture, crisp title made obvious of this. And lastly, 'It's a wrap!' was the title with the most meaning to it as I deliberately spely 'rap' as 'wrap' as not only does it symbolically just mean 'rap' but it's spelt like this because we associate the word 'wrap' with finalising something, in which it could be a present, a song or a film, whereby directores most of the time express 'IT'S A WRAP!'. So therefore, it also portrays the end product of my magazine.
• I will emphasis my attention around the chromatic of whites, black and silver as these all coincide with the conventions of rap music. I will hope to achieve this throughout my magazine.
• I intend to use a friend who as an interest in rap music as my main image. I hope to use either a mid-shot of him to show the attire that he is complementing or a close up to show the facial expression he struts that will confidently connect with the audience. I want the location to be in a natural setting with some type of urban feel to it to reinforce the concept of my magazine or I will use a white, simplistic background and use dominant fonts to make the image stand out even more. Even though the natural setting will not reflect rap music entirely, the way the model will be posed/what they'll be wearing will show that they are a rap artist of some type. Furthermore, he'll be dressed in a tracksuit with a brand, a body warmer also branded, and a latest pair of trainers, the reason for this is because by the model wearing this, also emphasises the importance of the latest fashion trends not just stereotypically for 'girls' but also for boys. As usuallly in most magazines whethere it be rap, pop or rnb its mainly girls presenting the latest fashion attires, so therefore, I want to challenge this by using a male model to be a figure head for the latest fashion trends for boys and who also aspire to be involved with rap music.
• The fact that in my interviews and survey the indivuduals suggested I include that latest news and gossip, I decided that on my front cover I will have several straplines which are; "exclusive interview with DANNY D!","vote SWB to perform at musicalize and WIN free tickets!","latest news on LINKUPTV rap battles". They all relate to the genre of my magazine and are current for the age group I'm aiming to attract. Moreover, introducing new artists will entice the audience to read the magazine even more and including events like the ones featured in my magazine will be even more enticing especiallt because you can win free tickets.
• My front cover will include a masthead, a main image and stapline featured on the sides, My contents page will include a long shot of my model and just the page numbers and what's featured on it and also smaller images on the side with other images of other artists. In addition to this, on my feature page I will preferably a mid-shot of the model and an interview featured in this.

Further Planning: Colour Schemes For My Magazine

 

I did further research into the colour scheme as I feel the colour scheme for my magazine or any magazine is very important to the magazine as that is what makes the magazine stand out most along with the main image and straplines. Therefore, taking this into account I then asked friends using social networking; Whatsapp, to gather more opinions on it. Although I did conduct an interview before hand asking about the colour scheme I felt I needed more views on what would be best. In addition to this, still having the interview allows me to have non-biased views about the colour desgin as I asked friends in this case. Below and beside are some screenshots of the answers. From these answers most people said black, white and silver. This research has helped me majorly as thats the colour scheme I wanted to propose from the start of my research. However, I would include another colour that is distinct and prominent to break down the consistent use of white, black and silver/grey, as these colours coincide eachother, and compliment eachother deeply. Therefore, looking at the big image of the slide above that shows the different colour schemes I was influenced by from these magazines, I would definately use the chromatics of the complex magazine but include the valliant, bold colour used in the Vogue magazine featuring Rihanna which is a striking midnight blue. Or include the fuschia pink that breaks down the colour scheme in the Jay-Z featured rolling stones magazine.

OUTCOMES OF MY INTERVIEW!

Before I set out my interview I had proposed what questions I wanted to ask and how many people I would ask, I chose to use 2 people of each gender to see how their answers would differentiate of even show similarity. However, it took me some time to make the video as I was having difficulties with my iPhone 5s and the memory, so I then resulted in using my friends HTC, in the video the sound wasn't as clear as I thought it would be, but given this I still accumulated what they wanted within a rap magazine. To further this problem, the video I made was too big to upload so I then resulted in making a new video with one two of the questions I prepared for the first one, the questions I chose were; "what colour scheme would you use to present a rap/hip hop magazine?". "And what main image would be ultimate to be put in a rap/hip hop magazine?". However, below are the questions and answers given from the first interview I originally planned to set out.

Q: What colour scheme would use to present a rap/hip hop magazine?
A: I would use black and white because it intergrates many cultures, and its not just for black people because it orginates from here, because white people like hip hop too.
 

Q: What information would you like being placed in this magazine?

A: Information about the artists, events and competitions.

Q: What main image would be ultimate to put in a hip hop and rap magazine?

A: A classic and old artist and also place and new and upcoming artist.

Q: What would allow this magazine to stand out from other competitors that are aiming to impress the same target audience

A: A colour scheme that stands out, and when you see it on the shelf in a shop its clear and visible and so it makes you want to buy it.

The answers given from the interview focused around what I intended to mainly prioritize in my magazine already.These key aspects were; the colours and how they can be bold and eye-catching, the main image and how to make it unique(possibly merging to images together of old and present artists. as the interviewee suggested). As well as this, seperating this magazine from the stereotypes that have been given to rap magzines already. And lastly, including news, information and upcoming events.

COLOUR SCHEME: before my interview I planned to use the colours; white, black and silver as the main colours that would be implemented in the magazine. From my interview, the interviwee implied that the colours black and white would be ideal for this type of magazine. This answer has helped me because she recommended what I wanted to intially propose and therefore and I'm more confident to propose these colours within this magazine. However, I wanted these colours to portray elegance and sophistication to avoid stereotypes on rap artists. Saying this, similarly my interviewee suggested these colours to intergrat different cultures and also avoid the stereotypes that rap music is just for black people when its not.

MAIN IMAGE: in the interview the interviewee suggested that as the main image I merge of an old artist and a upcoming artist. Altough, this would defeat the aim of me selecting a model/artist and going out to a location and taking pictures of them that would relate to my magazine and what genre of music I'm protraying in it. Therefore, I came to a conclusion that I would include other artists but as a strapline on the side of my front cover or feature page as small images. However, the main image of my front cover would be in a natural urban setting.

INFORMATION THAT SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE MAGAZINE: from the interview I would definately include prizes and competitions and events coming up and I include this on my contents page as a strapline.
